Day three of our fast paced run through the UK supermarkets and we have went a little upmarket to Sainsburys which is perhaps thought of as being one step below Waitrose in the snob stakes. For the previous outings see:
Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish
- Incredible value at £22
- Any Glen Moray bottles are worth buying
- This one is a stereotypical Christmas-y one
Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old
- I think better than the MUCH more expensive 18
- Try to get for around £35
- Rich sherried influence and natural colour, good strength and non chill-filtration
- A stable in many whisky cabinets
Glenfiddich IPA
- A fruity one for a whisky and beer drinker
- Good value if you can find for £40
- Part of a 3 bottle limited edition collection including XX, Winter Storm and Fire & Cane
The Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky – Distiller’s Reserve
- Japanese whisky is silly expensive now but this is still ok at £47
- Cheaper than online retailers in Sainsburys just now
- Makes a great gift purely on where it is from such is the way whisky has evolved.
- Uses red wine, sherry and Mizunara casks
