In 1964 Bowmore had delivered a new boiler from Renfrew just outside of Glasgow. The plan was to use the Royal Navy to delivery the boiler and part of a new still to the island from their base in Rhu during a May Bank Holiday. The route was to be as below:

A short film was made of the trip and this included the huge task of getting the boilers into the distillery when the lorries got stuck out at sea. Narrated by the Peter Capaldi and with insight from Tim Morrison who’s family owned the distillery at the time this is an interesting watch which I have left links to below: (Try and spot a very young Jim McEwan as well)
