Flagship is a bottle name which means business. No-one ever called something a flagship that they weren’t proud of.
The Distillery

As you can see from the picture above, Filey Bay whisky bottles are produced at the “Spirit of Yorkshire” distillery.
The distillery is a owned by a couple of farmers and their families with one of the families also owning a local brewery which was the first business utilising farm produce to alcoholic beverage.
Production at the site first started back in 2016 which is makes it much older than I realised with engineering and planning for the process supported by Dr Jim Swan with the brief to create a distinctive spirit and not to copy a particular Scotch style.
The distillery is thankfully one of the places which do regular tours so I must try to get through the next time I am in the area on a holiday. spiritofyorkshire.com/distillery-tours/
The Whisky
The flagship is the standard current core range bottle. Made with 100% homegrown barley it is bottled at 46% ABV. The whisky itself is all ex-bourbon maturation so we can expect a lot of caramel, citrus, honey and vanilla.

Final Thoughts
I always like showcasing farm distilleries and this is a nice one. English whiskies are coming on and really starting to challenge the traditional and conservative Scottish distilleries.
