We had one day off the Island and we are straight back but this time to a Master of Malt owned brand. The Seaweed& range is a collection of single malts bottled for their island character and without a named distillery.

They are small batch releases and they don’t always use the same distillery for each batch its really just what they can source at the right price point. This is because small batch for ongoing series is hard especially at this keen price point. The 50% ABV overproof version is available right now for under £50.

There is a bunch of Seaweed& bottles on the website already which you can side quest from these links:

Tasting Notes

ColourLight yellow
Noseseaweed, saline, a coastal fresh air on a winters morning and Scottish tablet
Palatemore smoked than charred or particularly peaty.

Think a Matheson sausage than peat fuelled fire. Initially it bites very sweet before developing to that smoky hue. A citric note at the end
FinishCharred and BBQ’d lemon halves. Overall still very sweet with lots of caramel and toffee notes.

Final Thoughts

Its an interesting and engaging whisky which having done so many reviews in a short space of time is reminding me a lot of the Advent Day 19: Lagavulin 8 Year Old
