Ok, so this was a rollercoaster opening this door this morning. First I see the brand… Aberlour interesting choice with two releases in a row from the same brand. Then the magical word “A’Bunadh” now I am confused because cask strength sherry whisky would make a perfect first door advent opener. Then the final word “Alba” ah ok then never mind. Now, I get it.
The Whisky

The Alba release is the cask strength small batch all first fill ex-bourbon release. It’s also the one I have been meaning to try so now I am quids in on this advent. Saving money here folks! If you get man math and girl math I guess I’m now inventing whisky math.
Speaking of money though this is still A’Bunadh pricing at around £85 a bottle this is only a handful of pounds cheaper than the sherry version. That I think is maybe a bit punchy. If we are saying a sherry hogshead will be something like 8-10 times the price of an ex-bourbon barrel from America then that should really factor into the pricing somewhere, right?
Tasting Notes
| Colour | Pale Yellow |
| Nose | pears, honey and very sweet with it. Just a few sprigs of mint to offset the icing sugar sweetness |
| Palate | Candied ginger, fizzy sherbet, vanilla and more honey. Twists of pepper in the development |
| Finish | silky finish with more icing sugar and zest of a lemon |
Where Can I buy?

Final Thoughts
I really liked this. There is a few places to get a sherry fix but these days how often can you find a really nice well matured all bourbon Scotch whisky? Balvenie just to do single casks in this form factor but I don’t think it’s available anymore.
Anyway, please let tomorrow include someone else’s whisky. I didn’t buy an Aberlour Calendar by mistake did I?
