For the first time in a few years I am going to daily blog a Master of Malt Advent Calendar each day all the way through December.

I picked the Scotch Whisky one which is a little more expensive than the original whisky one. I just looked at the list of whiskies and felt this one was more interesting for writing about basically.

I’ve done a bunch of these over the years and this is by far the nicest packaging. The recycled cardboard ones wasn’t great and didn’t feel like the cost of the calendar but I understand for some the environmental impact of their purchases are foremost in the mind.

This one though is nice thick cardboard and an embedded magnetic closure and the blue and gold theme is also very nice. If you can’t read the prose on the inside cover I have transcribed it below:

Drinks by the Dram

Anyone remember 2012?

The iPhone was released, The Shard became the tallest building in Europe, Marvel’s Avengers crashed onto our screens for the first dim and the world was first introduced to dram-filled Advent Calendar’s. Which was a nice turn of events for it, as John Cusack had been gaslighting it for a good few years with stories about killer neutrinos boiling its core. Lucky old world.

Born as a festive extension to our incredibly popular 5 dram tasting sets – and featuring the same core premise as individual drams – our Advent Calendars are the perfect way to sample a range of eclectic and yummy drinks – the vast majority of which aren’t available in miniature format.

Viewed through the lens of optimism – you hold in your hand 25 potential new double-favourite best -ever drinks. Through a glass-half empty lens – we’re saving you from having to deal with 25 nearly full bottles of something you don’t particularly get on with. Don’t say we never do anything nice for you.

I will also try to do a few shopping guides through December so look out for those as well.
