Another 3 year old but this time its a Bourbon from America. There is no distillery called Indiana so this is an unnamed distillery from the state of Indiana. Distilled on 1st November 2019 and bottled on the 1st August 2023. A Wheated Bourbon is a Bourbon with a mash bill which has a bias of wheat over Rye making a softer whiskey with more dough notes and less spicy notes.
Bottles were priced at under £30 which sounds an absolute steal for a single cask Bourbon at 45% ABV. So, of course, there is none of the 434 bottles left.
Official Tasting Notes
| Nose | Sweetcorn fritters, banoffee pie, buttery oak, and creamy cereal, with mellow toasted spice and poached apple developing in time. |
| Palate | Silken layers of soft, runny caramel, honeyed nuts, buttered popcorn, and toasted sourdough support juicy notes of peach, rounded off with a smidge of cinnamon warmth |
| Finish | A long, buttery finish, with notes of cream crackers, cocoa butter, Lotus biscuits, and candied ginger nestling beneath sweet toffee and toasty oak char. |
Tasting Notes
| Colour | Very pale yellow |
| Nose | Cough medicine, soapy like washing up powder and a little toasted seeded bread |
| Palate | Very soft and restrained texture and initial palate bite. Peaches and cream, mint sauce |
| Finish | A little touch of white pepper and oak spices. Mostly biscuit bases with some chocolate spread on top |
Final Thoughts
This is like a gateway drug to move from Scotch to Bourbon I’d say. It is its own thing not Scotch, not generic Bourbon, not Rye just its own combination of a bit of most of those other styles put together.
For the price this was a steal!
