I have 6 mini’s from a gift set I got Mrs Malted at my last birthday. I tend to have good luck with retailer exclusive bottles be it from Tyndrum, Master of Malt, Whisky Exchange or Good Spirits they all find good whisky at good prices. The collection at Master of Malt is pretty extensive now and the stock seems to sit around for a while which is good because it tends to come up in flash sales. So even though this 21 year old is quite a lot of money in absolute terms (£140) it could easily appear in a lightening deal for £99 one random Tuesday in May.

This single cask is from an Oloroso Sherry butt laid down in 1997 and bottled in 2018 at a cask strength of 57% ABV. Being such a large vessel they managed to get 671 bottles out of it. Which is a lot of money on glassware anyones book.

All the gifting tasting packs come with little cards where the official MoM tasting notes are written out with an area on the back for your own notes. For fun I will add in the official “Chaps at Master of Malt” tasting notes and then mine below.

Final Thoughts

The Master of Malt sub brand is Drinks by the Dram and for extra information they have their own website – https://drinksbythedram.com.

In terms of this single cask I liked it. It’s challenging and needs a little water but with the age is also fragile that it can be easily drowned.
