This is the first of two single cask samples I have which use peated whisky. This one is those Portuguese red wine casks. STR’d as well which means Shaved Toasted Rejuvenated. The other one which will be available to read about next week is a Moscatel Barrique which is of course a sweet dessert wine.
Tasting Notes
Colour – amber hue
Nose – subtly smoky, strawberries, woodland floor
Palate – grapy and fruity, charred wood and ash
Finish – kind of a short finish
Final Thoughts
Quite a subdued and subtle single cask. Perhaps it would have benefited from being cask strength but the reduced strength has knocked the stuffing out of it
