I used to do quite a few “Tweet Tasting”‘s a few years ago and along with this blog it got dropped with the pressures of life. For the last 3 or 4 months I have tried to fix this blog and now I am back on the now “X” Tastings. Which doesn’t sound right so I think everyone still uses the TweetTasting name.

In total there will be five articles from the event which happened on the 11th October. I will intersperse a couple of other things while we go through them over the next week or so.

The Whisky Cellar brand is owned and operated by Keith Bonnington who has been in the industry in marketing and brand strategy for over 20 years. Running a couple of different businesses in alcohol branding makes him well placed to create a niche Indi bottling company and their 2 brands “Whisky Cellar” and “Pintail” cater to different tastes and interests.

Both brands are available to buy from:

The Whisky

This Glentauchers was matured for 12 years in a first fill ex-bourbon barrel. The cask number was 406 and it has a strength of 56.4% ABV. The RRP from one of the sellers above is £75 for as 70cl bottle.

A few of the others in the series we will be looking at have some interesting cask finishes but this one is standard straight down the middle good quality bourbon casks for maturation.

Tasting Notes

Colour – light gold

Nose – with water to open it up. apples and pears. sweet cider pear drop sweets and acetone

Palate – calmed with water again, whippy ice-cream and caramel sauce, lemon sherbet confectionary

Finish – lemon cheesecake with a digestive base and the pear drops again

Final Thoughts

Sensible pricing for a nice cask strength whisky full of sweet fruity notes fully fitting the Speysider brief.
