The second pouch which by the way makes a good self containing drinking vessel is the unpeated 15 year old from Old Pulteney. In hindsight this was the wrong order but you can’t put the genie back in the bottle so we move on.
The Whisky
The 15 year was introduced a few years ago with the rebrand of the packaging. At less than 70 pounds in the UK this is good value on the face of it.
Initial long term maturation in second fill ex-bourbon casks follows a finishing period in first fill sherry casks. Like what should be standard fair but isn’t this is a 46% ABV bottle.
Tasting Notes
Color – pastel yellow
Nose – apples and pear, spotted dick pudding cheap vanilla
Palate – toffee sweets and milk chocolate, vanilla custard
Finish – long sweet finish fruit cake with thick white icing
Final Thoughts
I mean this is ok but I do think the other slightly cheaper and much younger Torabhaig was much nicer and more interesting.
Age isn’t everything, just as well really
