Are we bored on Canadian Monday’s yet? I guess you are but at least this time we have arrived at the peated selection. From my perspective at least after a week of base line 40% whiskies its good to get back into safe ground

The Whisky

Good solid marketing means you only have to look as far as the label on the bottle in front of you to find the details. 46% ABV, natural colour and unchill filtered. Equally, we know this is using red wine casks from Portugal which were re-charred before being used as a maturation vessel for peated whisky from grains peated to 54ppm. Multiple levels of detail which many a Scottish producer could learn from

Tasting Notes

Colour – orange

Nose – Saline and forest undergrowth. earthy and wooden

Palate – smoky and peppery. more saline, redcurrent jam

Finish – peppery and sticky on the finish.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know if I will be cancelled for this but actually I have been drinking a lot of Ardbeg 10 recently and there is some real similarities here. If I don’t come back on Wednesday you will know what has happened to me.
