As I said I would I found the notes. This was a Christmas present I think and my brother got the same one. We both had the same thoughts on this being a decent whisky from a distillery you could easily overlook.

The Whisky

The double cask is one of those over used marketing phrases but it just means a finishing in something which is almost certain to be a type of sherry from a few weeks to a few months. If there was an easy thing the marketing team could work on it would be a touch of detail. I have absolutely not useful information to add here other than 40 ABV and around 30 pounds of your hard earned money will buy it.

Tasting Notes

Colour – Amber gold.

Nose – Rich, warm aromas of apple, toffee and honey with sweet marzipan and subtle tangy marmalade notes.

Palate – Fresh, mellow with pear creamy peaches and pineapple and a hint of Demerara sugar.

Finish – Rich, smooth and refreshing. A signature Speyside malt.

Official Notes

Colour – yellow

Nose – caramel ice-cream and honey

Palate – Brown sugar, burnt sugar with a creamy texture

Finish – Short finish drying and warming. cinnamon

Final Thoughts

Standard traditional Speyside whisky made for the mass appeal and it does it well. Certainly better than the red wine finish. Sherry cask is another in the range and probably the best even if its the most expensive
