Damn is that Monday again already? At this rate Christmas will creep up on me like a bad smell.
I hope I can keep your interest for the next few months of Monday’s in the run up to Christmas actually. Perhaps at the end of this you might add a Macaloney’s to your Christmas list.
Kildara is another unpeated release from the Canadian distillery with Kentucky Bourbon, Spanish Oloroso , Pedro Ximenex and virgin American oak barrels in this release it is quite different to the ones tried already.
Same rules again which are: 46% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered and wow you can really see a much richer and darker colour against the ones I have looked at up to now.
With this last core release unpeated whisky I am hoping for big things to really highlight the brand. Sadly, outside of this mini set I can’t see a full size bottle available for sale at the moment. Prices are probably going to be in line with the others if a new batch comes along though so 70-80 of your British pounds.
Tasting Notes
Colour– Cherry red
Nose – juxtaposed fresh leather and dusty bookshops and sharp sweetie shops
Palate – very sweet, overripe fruits, sticky puddings and Christmas time. Base notes of caramel ice-cream,
Finish – Long long sweet alcohol soaked fruit notes.
Final Thoughts
If this whisky had a title on a sitcom it would be:
The one where the Canadian thought he was a Speysider
