We are back with another Whisky-Me exclusive whisky. For the 4 people left who don’t know what Whisky-Me is – it’s a whisky miniature subscription service. Based on a postal model you get a 6cl pouch of whisky through the letterbox from Royal Mail each month for a small fee.
Since the Dragon’s Den pitch the business has scaled significantly and more bottles of exclusive whisky are being added quite regularly as well as more subscriptions to include world whiskies and different regularities of deliveries to really maximise the number of potential customers. I like the service because I get regular material for this blog for less than a tenner a month.
The Whisky
Carn Mor is a great range from independent bottler and now producer Morrison. This 5 year old whisky is said to come from a marriage of Bourbon casks from Teaninich was bottled at 47.5%. Given the 500 bottles this could have filled I think this strictly true and was 2 casks combined. However, most of this was put into samples but Whisky-Me reckon this is a £50 a bottle type of quality bottle. If you do like it though some small amounts of stock are still available at: https://whisky-me.com/products/teaninich-5-year-old-carn-mor?variant=44962836218026
Tasting Notes
Tastes like:
DunnageGreen Tea
Dark Chocolate
Whisky-Me tasting notes
Colour – very pale yellow
Nose – sherbet dip daps. fresh cut flowers and traditional sweetie shops with the big jars
Palate – A dizzy mix of grass, pepper, cheap caramel sauce for kids ice-cream
Finish – spicy sharp finish of bitter lemon, chilli heat initially but concentrate and that vegetal note comes back from the palate
Final Thoughts
I think this is well priced whisky at a good strength. The Carn Mor range keeps their good batting average going and produced another good product. If I had a full bottle I wouldn’t be disappointed.
